Part Seven of my 3x3 of best girls: Serena

I'm on the final row (finally)!!! Pokemon the Series: XY was the first Pokemon anime series I watched, and I loved Serena in it.

I know there's huge wars about which Pokegirl is the best, but I can relate to how Serena didn't know what she wanted to do when she first started travelling with Ash. I think they have their own cool characteristics, but I relate to Serena the most. Also I thought that scene of her cutting her hair was so cool growing up.

Anyway, I decided to practice using washi tape to block out parts of the background, which is how I made the stripes. It was a really fun process and really satisfying once I got to peel off the tape.

I have a theory that Tom Taylor copied/took a lot of inspirations from Dickkory.

I may or may not be wrong but I just can't help but notice the timing and the similarities. A lot of things in dickbabs relationship are not very original at all. Most of the time they just steal concept from other couples.

Now going back to Tom, I suspect he was in a lot of social media apps (twitter, reddit, instagram etc) and secretly lurked in nightwing fandom groups and have read their posts and conversations etc. including about dickkory.

1. The concept of visiting his parents' grave

This panel of Kory and Dick showing up in his parents graveyard was shared in the Nightwing subreddit 1 month ago. How come 1 month later Tom wrote a similar thing for Dick and Babs?

Also notice Dick told Kory "You shouldn't be here" but Tom wrote Dick telling Babs "Thanks for coming here" it seems to me Tom really saw the kory comic and wanted to make the dialougue different for dickbabs to make them look better.

2. The concept of wearing each other's superhero costumes.

This fanart of dick and kory exchanging costumes was created by Laurarts on March 4, 2024, it went viral on twitter and it was also shared on the nightwing subreddit.

How come 1 month later Tom Taylor wrote that Dick and Babs wear each other's costumes too in Nightwing #113 that was published in April 17, 2024. 💀.

3. The concept of being freaky

Now my suspicions of Tom stalking and copying Dickkory content was solidified when he literally posted this gif of Dickkory from the DCAMU, notice how Dick and Babs started acting horny and freaky in his run after he tweeted this and Babs started teasing Dick and making sexual jokes to him like Kory does to Dick in the dcamu. 💀💀💀

4. The concept of A crowd of heroes watching them.

I remember a year ago I posted this screenshot of an article discussing the original plan for dickkory in reply to a thread where Tom Taylor got tagged by the person i was talking to. The person was a dickbabs shipper who insisted NTT dickkory was bound to fail, I told OP it's not true, i showed her this screenshot of the article that discussed the original wedding plan for dick and kory and where it also says a crowd of heroes would watch Dick and Kory. How come a few months later Tom Taylor wrote this dickbabs wedding scene in his run and made a crowd of heroes watch dickbabs too??? 💀

5. Wally being a shipper

This panel of Wally in Teen Titans Academy #9 being a Dickkory shipper was published in December 14, 2021, how come a few months later, Tom Taylor wrote Wally being a dickbabs shipper in Nightwing #91 (April 19, 2022). Wally felt ooc because he never once talked about dickbabs before tom wrote him in his book💀

6. The concept of a woman teaching Dick to be more than just a hero

Seriously, Kory already taught him this 😭 She was literally the reason why he didn't become a Batman 2.0, He already learned the whole "you can be more than just a hero and be in a happy relationship" lesson from Kory.

But Tom Taylor just had to bring him back to square 1 so he can make Barbara say this to him too, making her act like Kory 💀 it's funny cuz Barbara never acted like this before, don't forget she was the one who keep rejecting him and making him feel bad for trying to be happy before 💀💀💀

So yeah sorry if i'm being annoying about this, I might be wrong but even if i'm wrong it still doesn't make dickbabs original since dickkory writers and fanartist did these concepts first.

and tom taylor is known to be an obsessed dickbabs shipper who tried to have beef with dickkory shippers on twitter so copying dickkory content as a form of secret revenge sounds like something he would do 😬

Every time I think about Peri and Timmy a part of me breaks apart. I saw a fanart and some description about Peri and Timmy being like you wake up one day and your best friend is gone and it broke me cause actually imagine that.

You have been born because of a wish, something no child has done in thousands of years. He was beside the bed you were born in, Eyes filled with wonder. You would grab his finger while he cradles you in his arms, listening to him talk to you, looking at you as if you were his entire world. He would say the words I love you over and over, and you believed him. He was your first word, for a while. He was the only person you wanted to call out too, to reach out, and he was delighted to be there for you anytime you said his name. He would rush to your side and do whatever you needed. he helped teach you how to ride a bike, even if it was a human activity, you could fly with him anyway. you still wanted to do it with him though, cause it was Timmy!. he snuck you out late at night just to get you an extra sweet, and even if you could wish for it, you still wanted to do it with him. he picked you up from school with your mom and dad, talking to you about all the wacky antics and adventures he had with mom and dad. he helped you beat the last round of video games, teaching you the controls and secret hacks to beat the bosses properly. he hugged you when you felt like you had no one else. when you were the only kid fairy in a long, long time, he reminded you he would be there for you every single day. Every single birthday he was there to celebrate- make a cake with his bare hands and decorate his house just for you, it was always bliss with him.

Until you were 8. You were 8 years old when it was your older brothers birhday- 18. You were warned as the days came, but it felt so far, so impossible, that he had to go. he had to leave, and he could never see you again. He tried to find any- any loophole that could let him stay, Cosmo and Wanda looked everywhere in da rules, they hopped dimensions talked with other planets, had a case that could prove he was meant to be with his fairies forever, but he couldn't. No human could ever remember fairys, there were consequences that would affect everything outside of his family, he had to accept it. He could never say your name with such kindness again, He could never bring you to the ends of the galaxy again, he would never remember anything at all. You cry. You cry and cry and cry and think how cruel it is that you can never see your best friend again. You can never see your older brother ever again. He wouldn't remember carrying you, hugging you, tucking you before bed, he wouldn't remember birthdays, holidays, vacations, he wouldn't remember you. It felt worse then anything you've ever experienced, you barley could handle it at the time and still cant now. The only proof that he was in your life was your mere existence, your whole life was proof that Timmy Turner was your older brother, that he was Cosmo's and Wanda's godkid, and you would never forget that, no matter how much time has passed, no matter how many godkids go though the same cycle, you would always remember Timmy Turner.

Hello everyone, I wanted to put together a nice, low-pressure event dedicated to my fellow wlw self shippers for one week of June because it's pride month, babey!! This is the first time I've ever tried to 'organize' an event, so take it easy on me, I'll try to be as communicative as possible and if anyone has questions about it, asks and DMs are always open!

On to the details! Its gonna last from Monday the 10th through Friday the 14th, and anyone can opt in or out as they see fit! No one is obligated to participate throughout the entire week or from the beginning alone, just do what you feel like!

i think that we, as a community, need to talk about the parallels between the black brothers and tai lung and tigress from kung fu panda. i can (AND WILL) elaborate, but now i'm just lazy

oKAY, NOW I'M READY

so it all started when i went to watch kung fu panda 4 with my niece. first i was inconsolable bc the great lesbian icon tigress wasn't in the movie, but then, when i was out with some friends we started to look up fanarts of her at pinterest and there was this cute fanart of her and tai lung being siblings and playing togheter and IMMEDIATELY i thought about the black brothers

i need you guys to forget about the goodxbad stuff here bc that's not the point, the point is siblings angst. so tai lung, aka sirius, is the first son, the one to carry all the expectations, the one literally beign raised to become the dragon warrior/heir to the black house. and here they diverge a little bc tai lung tries, he gives all of him to achieve this, and all the love and attention from master shifu is conditioned to him beign the next dragon warrior but sirius is a rebel, he hates all that's linked to be a black and hates the person that his parents want him to be, so he do wathever is in his power to not be that person.

BUT THERE IS A BREAKING POINT FOR THE BOTH OF THEM: when their parents realized that they aren't and never will be what they want them to be. so tai lung goes insane bc not only he's beign denied everything that he fought for, the very thing that defines him as a person, but he can see that his father, whom he always though loved him, is starting to resent him bc he didin't get what he wanted from tai lung (this post is not a shade to master shifu, i love him, but i'm here for the drama). now with sirius his parents finally realized that he's not going to be the perfect little heir, so they torture him, and the last piece of hope that he had for his parents to love him is gone, THEIR LOVE AND ATTENTION WAS CONDITIONED JUST AS IT WAS WITH TAI LUNG AND MASTER SHIFU, now that he's to no use, he isn't valuable anymore. so they're both gone (tai lung go insane and ends up in jail and sirius go live with the potters)

meanwhile, we have tigress, aka regulus, the younger one, that is only there to fill the void that their older siblings left. regulus saw sirius with their parents, he (regulus) never received much attention from any of them, but he just knew that if sirius had been a good son they would've loved him, bc they tried, they tried to teach sirius the ways of the black family and there were moments, when they were satisfied with sirius behavior, that almost seemed that they loved him. so when sirius left and their focus turns to regulus he's ready to be the most obedient and well behaved son on this earth. now, tigress had never lived with tai lung, when she came to the temple he was already in jail, but she heard how master shifu adored him, and how broken he was that he was gone. she also knew that what caused them to drift apart was the whole "you're not the dragon warrior" thing, so the only way that she could gain the master's attention was to become the dragon warrior. but it didin't matter how hard they tried, how much they gave away to those people, they just weren't their siblings, they weren't enough.

i also like to think of the fact that tigress always felt like she was doing good, like, i'm not enough, my father doesn't really care about me, but this is my purpose and i'm actually helping people so at some point everything is going to be ok (when i become the dragon warrior), and i think that's kinda what regulus felt too, and i'm NOT excusing any bigotry behavior here, but he genuinely believed that he was doing some good for the wizard world by supporting his parents cause, so it's interesting when we think about "why reggie didn't leave??", because why would tigress leave???

i ALSO like to think about the skittles beign the furious five: tigress as reggie, monkey and crane as barty and evan (just two dorks who are superpowerfull), viper as pandora (i fell that there's no explanation needed) and mants as dorcas (c'mon, that little thing full of rage is very dorcas coded).

anyways, now i'm tired and won't be rereading nothing, so i don't know if it's understandable or if it's even english at this point, if you have any doubs fell free to ask

Very involved. This is your medical condition, he's a doctor, he understands medical conditions, he can be useful this way!

Except that he's not an eye doctor

He would try to study up and propose all kinds of experiments, but he knows eyes are delicate things and he doesn't want to be responsible for ruining yours

Always checks that your prescriptions are up to date. He's not the best at keeping track of dates but he'll randomly check in and remind you, especially if he notices you squinting

Loves to borrow them to play different characters, or when he's trying to use his academic tendencies to charm you

If you forget your glasses while you're out and about, he'll escort you on his elbow and go above and beyond chivalry

Chest puffed out, serious doctor face on as he steers you expertly through the crowd and points out every odd step or uneven cobblestone in case you missed them

His eyesight isn't the best either, but it's impossible to tell if it's because he needs vision correction or because he needs more sleep

If you get a shiny pair of glasses Malak will always be able to point you to them

Thinks it's adorable, overcooks breakfast every morning because they're too busy watching you stumble and squint around the kitchen before you have your glasses on

Knits you several glasses cases in the softest, most eye-violating neon yarn he has

Has a spell or two to temporarily improve eyesight, but they always forget to teach it to you because whenever it comes up they want to try the other spell, which lets them try out your vision quality

Regularly asks you to read different signs in public, just to gauge what it's like for you (he's curious!)

If you forget your glasses, they just see it as an extra excuse to hold hands

Don't rely on him to actually lead you around though

Because, as previously established, they will get distracted watching you squint at faraway objects and they will lead you right into a pole

Or wall. Or pedestrian. Or an unmarked canal (he feels terrible about that one)

Took inspiration from making masquerade masks and made several pairs of fake frames to match with you. They are all about as fashionable as their big, feathered hat

Didn't want Faust to miss out, so he crocheted her a pair. She loves them

As soon as she feels the freedom to do so, she's commissioning multiple pairs for you. They're a very important accessory to your daily functioning, MC, allow her to do this much for you at least

She's also asked around for the best eye expert in the area and has recurring appointments booked for you

Does her best to accompany you and always asks about new advances in medicine, in case you'd be interested. Never pressures you to try any of them

Seeing how charming you look in your spectacles opens her eyes to glasses fashion

She is going to start incorporating glasses into her fashion designs and will try her hand at styling a few pairs

She will secretly put on a pair of readers one evening, just to see what it's like, and then be so impressed by how easy it is to do her paperwork and read new legislation that she keeps them

Spends hours reassuring you that she's not wearing them to mock you. You don't mind at all because she absolutely rocks them

Loves it when you ask her to read or look for things for you when you don't have your glasses on

He notices you. He loves you. And he will always, always remember where you left your glasses, no matter how random or long ago it was

Hesitant to carry or hand them to you because they look delicate and he doesn't want to break something so useful

His eyesight is exceptionally sharp, so he'll frequently start to think that you're completely blind because you weren't able to spot the exact leaf he was pointing out to you on the other side of a clearing

It makes him sad sometimes because he finds beauty and peace in all the tiny details of nature, and you have a harder time seeing them

He takes this as his opportunity to get more comfortable with speaking for longer periods of time as he describes the things he's noticing to you

Which is very sweet, but again, you're usually able to see them too

Don't tell him that or he'll melt into a pool of embarrassment

Might try carving little charms to put on your glasses

Inanna notices how much you rely on them and how careful Muriel is when he handles them, which makes her get very concerned whenever she sees them left out unattended

She'll never admit to it out loud but she does find herself assuming that you have higher intelligence whenever you're wearing your glasses

You are never going to need a thing when she's around. She's got your prescription memorized and always reminds you when it's time for a check up

Always has a pair of up-to-date spares in her pocket

Her years of working in the palace have made her the world's best glasses cleaner. She notices smudges before you do and when she's done with those bad boys you can't even see the lenses any more

Loves the feeling of being depended on when you forget your glasses and ask for her assistance. She'll read all the road signs to you and knows exactly what to point out to keep you situated

In the evenings, if your eyes are tired, she'll snuggle with you by the fire and read her favorite books out loud to you. It lets you rest her eyes and allows for her running commentary on the plot

Pepi, on the other hand, is not so understanding. She has a deep need to knock your glasses off of every surface you leave them on, and she indulges frequently

You now have very durable, protection-enchanted glasses

Any time there's a chance that you'll have to do something physically dangerous (like fight a beast), he'll offer to take your glasses and protect them for you

The problem there is twofold: first, it's harder to see and do the dangerous thing without your glasses on

And second, he often ends up crushing them in his gauntlet when he gets too excited

He's the first to really encourage you towards trying out alternatives, like perception spells or contacts

Took full advantage of your bad eyesight whenever you two used to go shopping

Five minutes before his favorite stall, your glasses would mysteriously disappear, and then seeing the prices on the things he was waving around was ten times harder

He eventually repented of his ways, and in apology got you a shiny gold chain to hang your glasses around your neck librarian style so he can't steal them

Has been known to try to exaggerate how bad your eyesight is to wiggle his way out of trouble: "You wouldn't hit a person with glasses, would you? You monster."

Mercedes and Melchior get slobber on them multiple times a day when they jump up to lick your face

i keep getting jump scared by fanart that even slightly reminds me of wilb*r and goddamn its so sad man. like five years of following, loving, and adoring someone and never did i think there would come a day where id feel sick being reminded of his existence...

however looking back, it makes sense. i definitely do have repetition compulsion and keep subconsciously getting attracted to the same type of abusive and dysfunctional person. so it absolutely makes sense that the person i started adoring when i was 17 and so deep into being constantly abused, turned out to be exactly like my abuser (my dad).

its a sad but helpful reminder. something i wont ever forget and something i wont EVER repeat. im so done with finding abusive people and letting them traumatize me over and over again. and i mean that in the sense that i kept finding people like him (my dad) to date, to be friends with, and also unfortunately...to idealize. thats embarrassing to admit to but its the truth and im choosing to be compassionate towards myself. how was i supposed to know who to pick when i knew nothing but how he treated me yk?

and thats all thanks to shelby. ive sent many (probably too many) asks to shelby already but honestly, i can never thank her enough for the wake up call. for snapping me out of this cycle of abuse i was stuck in even when it comes to people that were supposed to be comforting and entertaining to me. for teaching me how to see all these signs of abuse i missed and ignored in my own personal relationships because i thought the person "wasnt that bad" or "didnt actually mean it." she showed me that we deserve better by being so brave and im so goddamn thankful. im thankful that im no longer supporting an abuser, that i now know the signs of more subtle versions of abuse and im most importantly thankful that shelby is safe and so very loved.

i feel like ive grown so so so so much since february and i hv shelby to thank for most of it. her and jo my best friend.

anyway, here's to healing and putting abusers behind us 💚

He would probably think that you're really cool and ask you how to cuss off people in your language. If you couldn't speak proper english he would definitely try and teach you by singing to you or some shit. Once you guys start dating he would try and surprise you by cooking food from your culture and learning your language (with a very thick british accent ofc). He would learn all the bad words and whisper them to you or something, and if you react like "noo bby don't say that :(" he would laugh and tease you, telling you that you're a cutie or whatever. He learns all the pet names too and try to call you those. Definitely calls Miguel bad names in your language, and when you guys talk about people one of you doesn't like he will also call them bad words, he just likes hearing you giggle.

Listen, I don't ship Miguel and Peter but I saw this fanart where he was like singing despacito to Miguel and mispronouncing all the words so i feel like if your native language is Spanish he would definitely do that cause he is bbg. If he deduced your nationality from your name he would definitely be like "Ahh yes, Y/n Y/l what a nice *nationality* name" and then try to say the few words he knows in your language cause he is a licensed boomer (I know he's not actually a boomer leave me alone). Once you guys start dating he will definitely try and learn your language and call you pet names, but will probably either completely forget about it, or just procrastinate it. Loooves it when you cook food from your culture cause he gets to be the first one to taste anything. Also loves cooking with you but it's mainly just him passing you stuff and watching you cook so whatever.

I don't think he really cares about it, I mean he thinks it's cool and everything but doesn't really give it too much thoughts, if you don't speak a lot of english tho he will also try to teach but more "professionally" then Hobie. If you have a complicated name he will definitely mispronounce it, and be a bit awkward everytime he has to call you by your name or say your surname for whatever reason, but he'll learn with time. I don't think he would really try to learn your language seriously, I mean he could try to call you some cute names in your language but mainly in Spanish. I think meeting his parents would look very cute especially if you still don't talk a lot of english, even tho he would be a little worried in case you guys have any misunderstandings. I think Rio would really like spending time with you cause she's also not a native english speaker so it would be nice to talk from foreigner to foreigner.

Like Miles, I don't think he would really care where you're from (unless you're an anomaly). If you don't speak proper english he wouldn't make much of an effort to teach you cause he kinda expects you to do it yourself, I mean if you ask what a word means or stuff like that he will tell you and explain anything that you ask him directly, but I don't think he would really take the initiative to teach you unless you guys are close and you explicitly ask him. Although if you do ask him directly to teach you english he would definitely be a bit surprised but wouldn't refuse, I like to think that that's how you guys became friends. Once you guys start dating things remain pretty much the same. His heart would secretly flutter if you call him pet names in your language, even tho he would never actually tell you. He would primarily speak English to you and a bit of Spanish, even tho if you are still in the process of learning English he wouldn't want to confuse you.

I feel like she doesn't think about it too much either, I mean, she would still ask you how to say this, and how to say that in your language as a small talk, but it doesn't really go beyond that (ha). She also wouldn't take the initiative to teach you english unless you directly ask her, but if you do, she's really excited about it. She will ask you if there's any song in your language you want her to drum and if there is, you guys kinda have this cute duet in her room (you sing ofc). Once you guys start dating she would probably call you cheesy things in your language on purpose just to tease you a bit, and when you return the cheesy nicknames she's all blushing and giggling with you. I know a lot of people headcanon her as a bit cold and distant but honestly she looks like such a sweetheart I really can't imagine her like that <3 event tho she would probably be reluctant in dating you cause she wants to protect you. She also loves it when you call her cute things in your language and just asks you to speak to her, cause even tho she doesn't understand she just likes how it sounds.

He thinks it's so cool and will probably ask you to teach him your language and it's kind like "oh what do you wanna know??" "everything". If you're a civil and you don't speak Hindi he would be so happy to teach you, and if you're a spider person and you need help with English he would also try to teach you and let you even hang with him in his universe to teach you better. He calls you mainly cute pet names in Hindi but will also ask you how to call you those in your language and they would be so long and cheesy like "my ray of sunshine" or "my soul" or some shit. He is actually very passionate about learning your language and learns very fast too! He also loves when you talk to him in your language cause he just likes how it sounds and he says that it "helps him practice". He is such a good teacher too, you learned very fast thanks to him.

ranking doubts and diatribes cases in chronological order! (+ some hot takes from my beautiful mind)

1) note of the turnabout

I don't actually have to say much about this one. kudos for not teaching us stuff we already know, but it suffers from severe first-case-mediogrity that only the lost turnabout ever really escaped... it was fun having gumshoe as our defendant and the hookup of the note as the only unused piece of evidence that everyone else fails to acknowledge was interesting, the case itself wasn't outright bad and fullfilled its role, which is why it gets a solid 5/10

2) arrival on a turnabout

this case immediately picked up my interest in a way that note of the turnabout unfortunately didn't. I mean, viola contacting us again?? tender lender comeback and development!! someone murdering a fucking cadaverini??? this has got to be something serious. instant intrigue!

I really appreciate using the tender lender and cadaverini to start tying into all that's going to be revealed. I mean yes! they are the small glimpse we got earlier into the same dark side this case is beginning to unravel! viola fits the vibe, makes sense to be used, is underappeciated in the fandom and I'm glad to see more of her!

viola fanboying aside, I was kinda overwhelmed by the intensity of it all at one point, when the logic thread lead us to Larry was getting accused. that's not neccessarily really a bad thing, or a flaw, but the stress did damage my enjoyment. the prosecutor was just relentless and we could make very little counterargument because of the severe lack of information, and because we were meant to lose, but I think it wasn't really Bad per se. that's when the fact that its a story first and a trial simulator second really begins to shine. I haven't decided how I feel about the fact we're actually meant to lose sometimes, it is very interesting and innovative, but sometimes it made me outright desperate.

and how could I forget! the wet kitten supreme umaru keigo and his tragic reveal! I liked that I think. despite him being a bitch as a prosecutor in this case

anyway the general score is probably gonna be... like 7/10 or 8/10, points taken off mostly for Larry and for stress.

3) turnabout judgement

HOO BOY. OH MY FUCKING GOD.

I'm gonna shove my "the judge actually IS corrupt" agenda in the closet for now because in this case he's not guilty. AND GOD DAMN IT WAS SCARY FINDING OUT THE PERSON I NEED TO GET MY FRIEND OUT OF TROUBLE, THE PERSON WHO WAS RELIABLY ALWAYS THERE, THE PERSON WHO YOU THOUGHT IS GLUED TO HIS JUDGE CHAIR IS BEING DETAINED AND INVESTIGATED RIGHT NOW. remember how I praised arrival on the turnabout for being gripping? forget that! turnabout judgement scared me shitless within the first few minutes. it's getting at least five points for that instantly.

I don't really understand people who say that hanma is supposed to be innocent, sweet and umsuspectable, like dahlia. because.... no she's not. she's scary, shady and an asshole right from the start, – then we just get to learn more and more and more about her motivation and about her doings. which I enjoy very much! I think she's a great character. at least two points to this case for having her in it.

BUT MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT THIS CASE ISN'T HER! its her sus as fuck pet judge, aka the specialest most unique judge ever, aka my perfect man yasuhiro tomioka!!!! omfg can we get a shoutout for yasuhiro tomioka I barely ever even see fanart of him Please. this case gets three points on the spot for having this man in it.

but here comes the final evaluation time, and just when it seemed like this case has effortlessly reached victory....

I fucking hate the evidence in this case and the case itself. the evidence is so flimsy and hard to work with I barely pulled myself to the end of the trial, constantly making mistakes because I was just trying to be logical, and lost a couple times which in other cases never happens to me.

(and yes there is a variant of loss that's not meant to happen, not the guilty verdict which is.) oh my fucking god I wish I could score it higher but beating the case shaved at least a few years off my lifespan, so I'm shaving off four points off this case. 6/10

(upd I realized that only started doing points math in this part of the ranking but its too late to go back and edit the rest now isn't it) (it isn't I just dont want to)

4) turnabout chase

9/10, 0.8 points taken off for pressure and loss stress, good god there's a lot of stress in this, 0.2 points off for lang's brother because I didn't case about him.

5) turnabout obsession

is it fine that I was actually thinking edgeworth did it..?

that's mostly because I was concerned about his moral compass tilt during "revengeworth" arc and I genuinely didn't know what to expect of him next.

the evidence pointing towards him was flimsy and I didn't have that much of a hard time poking holes in it, but I was still doubting edgeworth the whole time.

which I shouldn't have because that's exactly what that detective bitch wanted.

I didn't really care about basil bonerat until this case but after playing this one... I love him actually! yes I obviously hate him for what he did but hes so fucked in the head its incredibly interesting. luke atmey type of shit except arguably worse. also very revolutionary of him to be the first detective culprit!

8/10 with 1 point off for killing off hanma and 1 point off for a couple of things here and there that didn't really make sense, which im usually able to ignore with ace attorney, but wasn't able this time because of the grip the story had on me. gripping concepts is what the developers really poored their heartussy into and it shows.

and a bonus ranking of a case I was on the fence about including because its unclear whether it belongs with everything else or not (and also because I dont like it that much):

6) turnabout by the shore

kudos for sebastian and the lesbianism, but the culprit was very obvious the whole time and unfortunately I really fail to believe in sean and hanma's relationship. if they were given more time or moments or anything I probably would've cared way more than I did but unfortunately. still dont get this part of the fandom that writes 120k fics about sea sapphics and meta posts about how they both know so little about each other (duh that's the problem), but im built different I guess. unfortunately this gets 4/10 or even 3/10. probably 4 though out of respect for nonbinary lesbians

This is impossible. No art is most touching to me. They’re all equally touching. I will say that my medium of preference is writing in terms of what I put effort into and what I give as a finished product to others. I enjoy drawing as a hobby that relaxes me—but it’s for me, not others. But I LOOOOOVE looking at other people’s art—paintings, photos, fanart, sculpture etc. Serialized narrative media in general (book series, TV, podcasts) is my passion. I spent many years as an actress and performer and still appreciate a good performance, but I got tired of my body being my actual literal business and feeling like I had to ask other people permission for how I was allowed to look. I think acting is a truly fulfilling art form when one is allowed to just perform. It’s beautifully collaborative and it teaches truths about humanity. But it also allows you to hide in the fictional person you’re being. I avoided processing trauma for years, because I never had to confront my real problems when I could instead use them to bring other people to life. I really respect actors. It’s such a difficult life in a way that people who haven’t done it will never understand. You spend so little time feeling your own emotions or controlling your own body. It’s no surprise to me that so many actors develop serious substance problems or eating disorders or crazy plastic surgery or other issues. When you can’t do the work internally it’s easy to look for external solutions. And you have to do all of that while people feel entitled to your body and time and effort. And yet, when you melt into a character, it’s magical in a way that’s unique to that experience. And when someone performs so well you forget it’s all a performance? It’s transcendent. It’s ephemeral and only exists as long as you’re looking at it, and then it’s gone. Especially on stage. What an amazing thing humans have done by developing an entire art that by its nature is built in front of you every time and then have it disappear.

I’m also a huge fan of practical arts — woodwork, knitting, crochet, embroidery, fashion and design, etc. I love the idea of making something that lasts and gets use. I love that every time I sit at a table, I can think about the human being who learned the art of carving it and assembling it. I like that someone can put art on a piece of fabric and suddenly it becomes beautiful to look at and a comfortable throw pillow. I love that someone can knit a blanket that will delight my eyes and keep me cozy on movie night.

And there’s so many other forms of art that I haven’t even been able to address here.

Art is magic. Every form. What’s the point of asking what kind of magic is most magical? It’s all fantastic and important.
